Margarita Barresi

A proud Boricua, I was raised by my grandparents in San Juan, Puerto Rico. A desire to experience snow landed me at Boston University, where I majored in public relations. I subsequently enjoyed a 25-year career in journalism and marketing communications writing for PC Week (now eWeek) and working for such brands as Avon, Frito-Lay, and Dunkin Donuts. More recently, I transitioned into copyediting and proofreading, while pursuing a creative writing career.

My first novel, A Delicate Marriage, was born during the competitive Novel Generator program at Boston’s Grub Street, and led to a writer’s residency at the prestigious Noepe Center for Literary Arts on Martha’s Vineyard. It's currently under literary agent representation, while I work on my second one.

I enjoy life in the suburbs north of Boston with my husband and two cats. I will talk about my two daughters—Nina, pursuing her MFA in screenwriting at B.U.; and Leah, first-year med student at the University of Massachusetts—until your ears bleed (sorry-not-sorry). In my spare time, I read voraciously, embroider somewhat competently, go to the beach as often as the weather permits, slay jigsaw puzzles, and binge-watch British crime shows.
